NEW YORK BLACK AND WHITE

THE MULTIMEDIA NEW YORK BLACK AND WHITE PROJECT AIMS TO CREATE AN AWARENESS OF SOCIAL JUSTICE, RACISM, AND EQUALITY THROUGH THE METAPHOR OF NEW YORK AND SNOW FOR HUMANITY ITSELF.

This project, which consists also of exhibitions in museums and art galleries, VR and immersive experiences, was inspired by a special report. The Bill de Blasio administration released a report, in 2020, saying BLACK NEW YORKERS describe RACISM in the city as “inescapable and emotionally taxing.” The City Commission on Human Rights posted a 74-page report on its website regarding this issue. The document features accounts from black New Yorkers who have experienced racism in EVERY FACET OF LIFE, including EDUCATION, HOUSING, HEALTH CARE, WORK, and INTERACTIONS WITH THE POLICE and the CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM. The report came as daily protests over police brutality against people of color were becoming numerous in the city. “Although anti-black racism is not a new phenomenon, in recent years, we have heard, with disturbing frequency, reports of people going about their daily lives and being targeted because of their blackness—in grocery stores, schools, on the street, in their own homes and neighborhoods—for humiliation, intimidation, and violence. Dehumanizing blackface depictions continue to surface within retail and political contexts,” the report says.
NEW YORK is the most densely-populated major city in the United States and one of the most densely-populated cities in the world. It is a HUGE MELTING POT of different nationalities, cultures, and traditions, with people from all over the world, some born in America, some, many, immigrants, who still come to the city chasing a dream, a vision, a job, a new chance.
This city has been described as the cultural, financial, and media capital of the world, influencing commerce, entertainment, research, technology, education, politics, tourism, art, fashion, architecture, sports, international diplomacy, and WAYS OF THINKING.

New York is a special place when the SNOW starts falling on the city, making everything white, making life slower and sounds less perceptible and lighter, creating a simple and pure EQUALITY of BLACK AND WHITE.
NEW YORK is one of the most beloved cities, full of contrasts, one of the most beautiful examples of different cultures and peoples all living together and, therefore, a great VOICE AS A CITY, able to reach out to every corner of the world. In the end, the New York motto, over every drama, catastrophe, terrorist act, pandemic, is: UNITED WE STAND.
